EQ-400 Information Sheet

Filtration Capabilities

The EQ-400 uses a 3-stage filtration method to efficiently remove many contaminants from water. Each stage contains a different type of filtration media, and together they form a strong combination. The result of which is a reduction in Chlorine levels by 97% and reduces other contaminants such as Chloramines, Lead, Mercury, VOC's, Pharmaceuticals and many more.

The first stage of the filtration process in the EQ-400 system is performed by the EQ-304 pre-filter. This filter has been designed to filter out sediment over 1 micron in size from the source water before it reaches the main tank filter. This helps to keep the tank in good condition over its lifespan preventing large sediment contaminants from damaging its filtration medium.

Following this, both the second and third filtration stages occur in the main EQ-400 tank. The second stage media is found in the upper section of the tank and it consists of a fine Activated Catalytic Carbon blend that is able to effectively reduce the levels of Chlorine, Chloramine and other compounds.

The source water then continues to the third stage in the bottom section, which is once again filled with an Activated Catalytic Carbon media. However, this consists of a different blend that also removes Herbicides, Pesticides, Industrial Solvents and Pharmaceuticals.

EQ-400 Performance Data Sheet

NSF Certification

The EQ-400 has been independently tested and certified by NSF International (National Sanitation Foundation) and it has been shown to meet the NSF/ANSI standard 42. This standard assesses the system's ability to reduce Chlorine levels and all systems must pass stringent structural integrity, toxicology and material extraction tests to receive certification. Filtration systems are also tested to ensure that they will continue to operate correctly under constant water pressure and an inspection of the materials used in the product is carried out to ensure they will not leach additional contaminants, such as BPA, back into the filtered water.

Whole House Filtration

The advantage of a Whole House Water Filter is that it has an impact everywhere, making both drinking and shower water safer and healthier. This reduces the risk of contaminants entering the body through consumption, inhalation or absorption through the skin. The end result is cleaner water with a better flavour, moisturised skin and softer hair.

Installation Method

Since it is a point of entry system, the EQ-400, like all Whole House Water Filters, is more challenging to install than a typical Countertop or Undersink filter. Therefore, it is recommended to hire a licenced plumber to carry out the task. The parts required for a standard fitting of the system will all be provided in the install kit. However, if a property has existing piping of a diameter that is not 22 mm the provided fittings will need step-up or step-down adaptors to be purchased separately from a hardware store.

For flexibility, the EQ-400 can be installed inside or outside of a property, but for the best results it should be connected directly to the waterline as it enters the property. Therefore, it should sit before any other water treatment or storage equipment. This is of particular importance with water heaters as the EQ-400 can suffer damage if water over 32.2°C (90°F) is passed through it. Therefore, if installed outside it should also be protected from direct sunlight as much as possible.

EQ-400 Installation Instructions

*The European version of the EQ-400 does not include the post-filter cartridge, housing and bracket within its standard installation kit. If required, the entire post-filter set can be purchased separately as an add-on feature.

Replacement Method

The EQ-400 has been designed for easy filter replacement without the need to hire a plumber again to do the job. Through the use of the shut-off valve provided in the install kit, water flow can be stopped and once the system is drained the filter housings can be unscrewed and the old filters can easily be removed and replaced.
