First of all, the Aquasana OptimH2O water filtration system utilises reverse osmosis to remove any dissolved solids, such as fluoride and arsenic, that are smaller than 1 micron. Next the water passes through activated carbon to reduce the amount of herbicides, pesticides, volatile organic compounds and MTBE before passing through catalytic carbon which tackles chlorides and chloramines. The ion exchange filters out any heavy metals such as lead and mercury before the absolute sub-micron filtration stage, which captures any asbestos chlorine resistant cysts such as giardia and cryptosporidium. The final stage is remineralisation where minerals are replaced, improving pH and alkalinity.
