OptimH2O® Filtration Technology
Using state of the art filtration technology, the EQ-OPTM is able to reduce contaminant levels with ease. Tested to NSF/ANSI Standard 53, it can effectively remove up to 99% of cysts and 98% of PFOA/PFOS. It can also reduce levels of Chlorine, Chloramine and many other chemicals by over 90%.
To achieve such performance results, the EQ-OPTM uses a 2-stage filtration process. For the first stage, the water passes through a 1-micron pre-filter that traps sediment and large particles that could clog the main filter.
For the second stage, the water passes through an ultra-dense carbon block that can achieve superior results over granular carbon filters. Additionally, the carbon block filters down to a 0.5-micron level, allowing it to trap a wide variety of common water contaminants.
However, despite its incredible filtration ability, the EQ-OPTM does not remove beneficial minerals from the water supply. Therefore, naturally occurring minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium remain, making the water healthier and tastier.
NSF/ANSI Certification
The OptimH2O® EQ-OPTM has been independently tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 53. The results of the tests are available in this Performance Data Sheet.
Standard 53 confirms that the system can reduce contaminants known to impact physical health. Cysts such as Cryptosporidium or chemicals such as Lead or Mercury fall into this category.
The NSF/ANSI certification tests also look at material safety and structural integrity as part of the overall assessment. These additional evaluations ensure that there are no design shortcomings that could compromise the system's filtration ability.
Filter Installation Procedure
The OptimH2O® EQ-OPTM has been purpose-built for easy installation as a point of entry system. The recommended installation method and compatibility details are available in this Instruction Manual.
Since the EQ-OPTM is a whole house water filtration system, we advise hiring a registered plumber to complete the installation. Hiring a professional ensures that the system can operate to the best of its ability and avoids the risk of water damage due to leaks.
All the parts needed for the standard installation procedure are available in the box, along with the filter. However, if the existing plumbing is of a different diameter or non-standard design, additional fittings may need to be purchased separately.
If desired, the EQ-OPTM can also be paired up with Aquasana water scale conditioners or UV filters for even greater results.
Cartridge Replacement Method
Replacing the filter cartridge in the EQ-OPTM is a very straightforward process. The recommended replacement method is available in this Instruction Manual.
The primary cartridge for the EQ-OPTM has a capacity of 404,092-litres or a maximum lifespan of 1-year. Additionally, to ensure optimum performance the EQ-PRE25 pre-filter should be replaced every 6-months.
To complete to process, no power tools or specialised pieces of equipment are needed. However, to ensure an accident-free experience, be sure to follow all the steps carefully.
To ensure optimal filter usage, the EQ-OPTM internally detects water flow rates. Therefore, it can calculate exactly when the filter has reached its maximum capacity, allowing for compromise-free filtration.
The cap on top of the main filter tank displays the filter capacity information through LED lights. If the LED's are green, the filter is in good health, if they are yellow, the cartridge is nearing the end of its life, and if they are red, the cartridge needs to be changed immediately.
