Aquasana Claryum™ filtration technology

Your water becomes contaminated from a variety of sources throughout the process of collection, treatment and delivery. From groundwater contamination at the source to chemical contamination at the treatment facility to rust and lead contamination as the treated water travels through pipes to your home, the water you drink and bathe in can contain dangerous levels of harmful contamination. This continuing level of contamination makes filtering your water a critical component of maintaining your health. With the AQ-4000 Countertop water filter, Aquasana Claryum™ filtration technology stands between you and the harmful contamination present in your water supply.

NSF-certified Aquasana Claryum™ filtration features three-stage technology to reduce pollutants and maintain healthy minerals to balance pH and ensure fresh, spring water flavor.

Additional Product Information

  1. Do I have to pay for a plumber to install the system? — Our countertop drinking water filter system is very easy to install, and it only takes a few minutes to do; no plumber is necessary.
  2. How often do I have to replace the cartridges and how much do they cost? — We recommend replacing the cartridges after six months or 500 gallons/2,300 litres, whichever comes first.
  3. Is this purified water? — No, and actually, purified water is not as healthy as filtered water. Purified water undergoes reverse osmosis or distillation, which strip everything out of your water - not only the contaminants, but also the healthy, natural minerals. Our system uses selective filtration designed to reduce contaminants from the water and leave in the natural healthy minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
  4. What does TDS stand for, and what is TDS? — Total Dissolved Solids: dissolved minerals and metals. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals in your water, but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products remove harmful TDS, like dissolved lead and iron, but since our selective filtration leaves in calcium, magnesium and potassium, and minerals are dissolved solids, there will still be a measurable amount of TDS in our filtered water.
  5. What is BPA? And why are people concerned about it? — BPA stands for Bisphenol-A, a contaminant found in most plastics. BPA can adversely affect your health if consumed at high levels. Aquasana drinking systems do not contain BPA, and our filtration process reduces existing BPA.
  6. Does having hard water mean it is contaminated? — Hard water is more of a nuisance than a health risk, and is not necessarily contaminated. Most water sources in the UK and Europe are considered hard. Hard water is generally safe to drink, after it has been properly treated.
  7. What is soft water, and is it safe to drink? — Having soft water just means you have a lower concentration of dissolved minerals in the water (primarily calcium and magnesium). Soft water does not mean clean water. Your water can be soft and still contain contaminants.
  8. What is selective filtration, and how do Aquasana systems filter drinking water? — Selective filtration is the process of sub-micron filtration, micron filtration, adsorption and ion exchange, all of which selectively reduces chemicals, heavy particulates and most dangerous heavy metals from the water while maintaining healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium.
  9. How do I know if an Aquasana system will be compatible with my faucet? — The AQ-4000 will fit most standard UK and European faucets (taps) and comes with two adapters. Please check that your faucet/tap has a aerator that can be unscrewed, once unscrewed please check that there are screw treads inside the tap head, if there are this is how the AQ-4000 will connect if you do not have an aerator that can be unscrewed then the AQ-4000 will not connect as standard and you will need to get an adaptor from your local hardware store or perhaps consider our under sink systems.

* Please note the AQ4000 filtration system will only be compatible with a tap that comes with a removable aerator at the tip of the tap

  1. Taste like fresh spring water 4 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jun 2018

This new filter is even better tasting then the old model. It is like drinking strait from a fresh spring, amazing!

The only complaint I have is that they promised on the website that The AQ 4000P Premium Brushed Chrome features a stylish diverter connection which is more elegent than the White and Black models.

It came with the old model diverter connection which I was not to happy about with my old filter, but it still is the best water filter I bought price/quality!

  2. Brushed chrome is just plastic! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Aug 2016

I've had a white Aquasana filter for years but it broke recently and I had to replace it. I was quite excited as I had fancied the brushed chrome version for a long time as it looks much more stylish (obviously the water filter is the same and the water tastes really nice and I'm happy with that). Imagine my disappointment when I unpacked my new filter and the housing turned out to be cheap looking silver coloured PLASTIC...The diverter valve on this model looks much better than the old style but if you get this model just be aware that it's not exactly what it says on the label!

  3. Good product, but requires high water pressure 3 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Aug 2015

The Aquasana AQ4000 is an affordable and effective product for those who do not want to make any structural changes to their set up. Set up is straightforward and filtration is effective with a clearly detectable improvement in water quality.

There are several important points to note, however, all my observations from personal experience. They are listed in order of severity:

    1) The diverter assembly greatly reduces water flow rate. The premium diverter restricts slightly more than the standard diverter. This means that properties with already low water pressure will see a further reduction, even when the filter is not activated. In some cases, especially with gravity fed hot water systems, this can lead to a complete shut off of hot water supply in mixer tap systems. In such cases, the only solution is to use only cold water, or to remove the diverter assembly when you do not need filtered water. This is the biggest minus point.

    2) The diverter assembly is fairly bulky, and as a female fitting. So if your current aerator has a male fitting, you will need to install the adapter to make the AQ4000 fit. This greatly reduces the clearance (2-3") between the water outlet and your base of your sink.

    3) The water tubes constantly get in the way and there's no way to make them unobtrusive. This is a price to pay for having a counter top solution.

Having said this, Aquasana has provided me with great customer support and even though my problems could not be fixed (even with them sending me a different diverter assembly), I've accepted the inconvenience of constantly attaching and removing the diverter assembly for good quality water.

To conclude, you should install an under sink solution if at all possible. In the long run, the convenience of such a system greatly outweighs the slightly higher initial cost. The counter top should only be used as a last resort if none of the other solutions are possible, e.g. unable to make structural changes in rented properties.
